Canoe trip with overnight stay in a pitched tent
With the Family Package you get an easy and convenient Canoe or Kayak trip where the tent is ready with camp beds upon arrival. The family package includes canoe or kayak rental and accommodation in a pitched tent at one or more selected accommodation sites along Gudenåen. This means you don't have to pitch your own tent after a long day on the water and can instead focus on enjoying the trip.
Important information:
- The tent is a Family tent, not a luxury glamping tent.
- Accommodation is included in the price
- Four cots per tent (Length: 190 cm, Width: 64 cm, Height: 42 cm, Max. load: 120 kg per bed).
- Up to five people are allowed in the tent - the fifth person must provide an alternative sleeping place.
- Dogs are not allowed in the tents.
- The tent you choose during booking has a unique name (e.g. "Vestbirk Tent 1"). When you arrive, you must use this particular tent.
- At Vestbirk Camping and Holmens Camping: Please check in at the reception upon arrival and present the confirmation you have received by email.
- At Åstedbro Teltplads and Gammel Rye Teltplads: There is no reception - find the tent yourself, which is marked with our logo and tent number, and present your confirmation email if a supervisor is coming.
- Family packages can be booked in the period June 16 - August 10.
- Recommended sailing per day is 15-20 km.
Bring your own
You must bring all necessary equipment, including:
- The law (mandatory).
- Sleeping bag or other sleeping equipment.
- Food, drinks and personal necessities.
- Sleeping pads are recommended for extra comfort.
Overnight stays
When choosing accommodation for your Canoe trip, it is important that the accommodations match your chosen sailing route. Please note that on the stretch from Tørring to Klostermølle it is not allowed or possible to sail against the current. Therefore, make sure to plan your route carefully before booking your Family Package.
You are free to choose between five beautiful places to stay along Gudenåen
Primitive campsite:
- Åstedbro Teltplads - Toilet, water, fire pit, table/bench set, barbecue.
- Gammel Rye Teltplads - Toilet, shower, fire pit, table/bench set, electricity, 2.5 km to shop.
Campsites with great facilities:
- Gudenå Camping - Toilet, shower, kitchen, fire pit, table/bench set, electricity, playground, mini golf, kiosk, café.
- Vestbirk Camping - Toilet, shower, kitchen, fire pit, table/bench set, electricity, playground, pets, kiosk, pool, barbecue.
- Holmens Camping - Toilet, shower, kitchen, fire pit, table/bench set, electricity, playground, indoor pool, mini golf, fishing lake, kiosk, grill bar.
How to book the Family Package
Book Canoes or Kayaks
- Select number of canoes/kayaks and number of days.
- Select the start and end point of your trip.
- Add to cart and click continue to accommodation.

How to book a Family Tent:
15/7 - Start the canoe trip from Tørring → Sail to Gudenå Camping
15/7 - Overnight stay: Gudenå Camping In a Family Tent
Important:
- The canoe must be booked for 1 day on 15/7.
- Accommodation must be booked separately.
- The tent you choose when booking is the one you will need upon arrival.
- A Family tent has four bunk beds.
- Up to five people are allowed to book, but the fifth person must provide an alternative place to sleep.
Example of a 2-day canoe trip
You want a 2-day canoe trip, but start with an overnight stay before the trip begins.
How to book a Family Tent:
1/8 - First overnight stay: Åstedbro Teltplads
2/8 - Start the canoe trip from Åstedbro Teltplads → Sail to Vestbirk Camping
2/8 - Second overnight stay: Vestbirk Camping
3/8 - Sail on to Klostermøllewhere you end the trip
Important:
- The canoe must be booked for 2 days from 2/8 - 3/8.
- Each night must be booked separately.
- The tent you choose when booking is the one you will need upon arrival.
- A Family tent has four bunk beds.
- Up to five people are allowed to book, but the fifth person must provide an alternative place to sleep.
Example of a 3-day canoe trip
You are going on a 3-day Canoe trip from Åle Teltplads on 16/6 to Ry on 18/6 and need 2 nights accommodation along the way.
How to book a Family Tent:
16/6 - Start the canoe trip from Åle Teltplads → Sail to Vestbirk Camping and spend the night there.
17/6 - Sail on to Gammel Rye Teltplads and spend the night there.
18/6 - Sail on to Ry and finish the trip.
Important:
- Each night must be booked separately.
- The tent you choose when booking is the one you will need upon arrival.
- A Family tent has four bunk beds.
- Up to five people are allowed to book, but the fifth person must provide an alternative place to sleep.
Example of 5-day canoe trip
You are going on a 5-day Canoe trip from Tørring d. 1/7 to Ry on 5/7 and need 4 nights of accommodation along the way. You want a rest day and will therefore stay two nights in the same place.
How to book a Family Tent:
1/7 - First overnight stay: Åstedbro Teltplads
2/7 - Second night: Vestbirk Camping
3/7 - Third overnight stay: Vestbirk Camping (rest day)
4/7 - Fourth night: Gammel Rye Teltplads
5/7 - You arrive in Ry and end the tour
Important:
- Each night must be booked separately.
- The tent you choose when booking is the one you will need upon arrival.
- Tip: If you're staying two nights in the same place, we recommend booking the same tent for both nights (e.g. Vestbirk Tent 2 on 2/7 and 3/7) so you don't have to move tents.
