Experience one of our favorite day trips on Gudenåen - From Åle to Gudenå Camping or Vestbirk Camping
Take a wonderful day trip on Gudenåen starting from Åle Teltplads. This route offers beautiful nature experiences, quiet stretches and several good opportunities for breaks along the way. The tour can end at Gudenå Camping or Vestbirk Camping, depending on how far you want to sail.

Detailed route information
Starting point - Åle Teltplads
Your tour starts at Åle Teltpladsfrom where you have 4 km sailing to Åstedbro Teltplads. Here you'll find good facilities such as toilets, water, fire pit and tables/bench sets. Close by is also Åstedbro Grillen, where you can enjoy a meal before continuing your trip.
After about 2 hours sailing from Åstedbro you'll reach Gudenå Camping in Brestenbro. Here you'll find a wealth of facilities including toilets, water, kitchen, campfire site, table/bench set, covered dining area, electricity, shop, café, playground and mini golf course. This makes Gudenå Camping a great place to end your trip with a well-deserved break or try your hand at their fun mini golf course.
Extend the tour to Vestbirk Camping
If you want a slightly longer tour, you can continue another 7 km (approx. 2 hours) to Vestbirk Camping. On this part of the route, the river widens and the water deepens, but the sailing remains adventurous and scenic.
As you approach Bredvadmølle, you'll find a rest area with toilets - this is located on the right, just before Bredvad Bridge. Shortly after crossing the bridge, you will sail out onto Bredvad Lake. Keep to the right and shortly after you will arrive at Vestbirk Camping.
Vestbirk Camping is a great place to end your trip, where you can enjoy a meal in their grill bar or choose to stay in a tent and extend the experience with a cozy evening in the beautiful surroundings.

- Gudenå Camping - Perfect for a day trip with suitable sailing (canoe/kayak drop-off by 17:00)
- Vestbirk Camping - For those who want a longer trip (drop off canoe/kayak no later than 16:00)

Although this tour is planned as a day trip, you may want to bring a tent or book one of our Family Packages, where a pitched tent is ready upon arrival at the final destination.
