Packing list

When you need to pack:
Below you can read about how to pack your canoes and kayaks in the best possible way and find a packing list to make sure you have everything you need for your trip. We've also made a printable version of the packing list, which you can find right HERE
Equipment and gear
We recommend that the luggage per person "only" consists of 1 small bag and 1 large bag, 1 sleeping bag and a sleeping mat/air mattress. The small bag contains items needed during the trip, which should be easy to access. The large bag (which is not a suitcase) contains everything else...
It's a great idea to rent luggage barrels for the trip and it's also a good investment to buy the waterproof bags that we sell in both 10 and 50 liters. For those who can't leave their cell phone safely at home, we strongly recommend that you buy a waterproof smartphone case for your phone that has a cord so it can hang securely around your neck. Always remember to bring transparent garbage bags (so you can always see the contents) to pack your bags in. As well as for the waste that will always come up on a sailing trip.
Packing the canoe
Make sure your luggage is distributed so that it does not roll.
It's also a good idea to tie a string around each piece of luggage and attach the end of the string to the canoe. That way, you'll be able to keep track of all your belongings in case of an accident and the canoe capsizes.
Always remember to pack heavy items over the keel in the front 1/3 of the canoe.
After packing and when all people are on board, the canoe should lie roughly horizontal.
Packing a sea kayak
Always pack in smaller/small packing bags/bags so you can pack all the way to the corners. There is a front hatch and a rear hatch in a sea kayak.
Heavy equipment (provisions and water containers) should be in the hatches closest to the center of the sea kayak. Medium equipment in waterproof bags (clothes, cooking utensils, etc.) should go next. Light equipment (tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag in a waterproof bag) is furthest from the center. Alternatively, equipment can also be strapped on top of the kayak...
